Week 8 has come and gone, Jake has now built himself a 2 game lead in the standings and it is now 5-3. With a crap ton of byes on the schedule and a potential season ending injury for Derrick Henry, things are about to get very interesting. But fantasy football is all about winning in spite of adversity, taking the season week by week, and relying on your depth and managerial prowess. The real chess match is just now beginning and we’ll see if Q can dig himself out of this hole. Waiver wire advice for this week below along with our full scoring update.
Waiver Wire Advice:
ADD
Adrian Peterson – AP single handedly won me my Fantasy League in 2012. If I remember correctly he scored over 25 fantasy points in 6 of the last 8 weeks of the season…what a king. Fast forward 9 years and he’s in his fifteenth season and was signed by the Titans to potentially play a huge role in one of the best run schemes in football. He is certainly no lock to be his old self, or even come close to replacing Henry, but the opportunity is there for the taking. You’d be a dummy to not submit a waiver add for him this week.
DROP
Randall Cobb – If you picked up Randall Cobb last week after reading my post, you’re welcome. He came away with 15 fantasy points (half pt PPR) but only had 3 catches on 5 targets for 15 yards, and 2 of those catches were TDs. I will take that one performance to the bank but with Lazard coming back this week, and Davante Adams sooner than later, I see no reason to consider starting Cobb on the near horizon and would be comfortable dropping his ass. For additional context, Juwann Winfree saw more targets than Cobb in that Cardinals game last week…not encouraging.
HOLD
Van Jefferson Jr. – This could also qualify as an ADD, but if you still have Van Jefferson on your roster I would hold onto him for a few more weeks. He saw seven targets in week 7 and six in week 8, and with Desean Jackson all but gone via trade or release this week that means more opportunity for the second year WR out of Florida. Tutu Atwell is also now on IR for the Rams so all signs are pointing to increased usage for Van. I like his matchup this week with an awful Titans secondary to be potentially his best game of the year.
