Prepare yourselves for the battle of the ages. Happy to announce that your fantasy football experts will be competing head to head for the holy grail of fantasy football, the coveted Arbitrage trophy.
The rules are simple. Two mega teams, one regular season champion and the possibility of one unlucky soul potentially forced to put their taco crushing capability to the test.
Due to league limitations preventing us from competing 1v1 all season, Jake and I are now both the proud owners of two teams each (4 team 0.5 point PPR league). A winner will be determined on a weekly basis by comparing the combined points of our respective teams’ starters each week. The regular season will span 15 games (Week 1 – Week 15) at which point the regular season champ will be crowned and bestowed with the Arbitrage trophy. That’s where things get interesting.
Upon the conclusion of the regular season, both of our teams will advance to the Bearish Bowl. The Bearish Bowl will consist of two cumulative point rounds for both of our teams’ combined starters (Week 16 – Week 17). The person whose teams combine for the least cumulative points over that two week span will “win” the Bearish Bowl. The Bearish Bowl “champion” will be forced to endure the league punishment UNLESS they also won the Arbitrage trophy that season.
The “winner” of the Bearish Bowl (assuming they did not also win the regular season title) will be forced to consume a Taco Bell taco 12 pack in 30 minutes or less. Should this person fail to accomplish this feat, they will be on the hook to buy their opponent an NFL jersey of their opponent’s choosing. If the regular season champ also wins the Bearish Bowl in the same season then the punishment will be negated (this offers the regular season loser a chance to redeem themselves).
In order to account for the absolutely loaded rosters we both drafted we’ve replaced the K and D/ST positions with additional FLEX spots. Jake won the first and third picks in the snake draft due to the Pirates scoring a run in the 1st inning of their recent game against the Phillies (ironic considering they’re one of the worst hitting teams in baseball) leaving me with the second and fourth picks.
I’ve listed out our combined rosters below and we’ll keep you posted on a weekly basis throughout the season. Best of luck DPJ and may the fantasy gods ever be in our favor.
