Michigan State comes in to the matchup after a comfortable win against a very solid Mississippi State team. They dominated from start to finish and proved they are one of the best defensive units in the country. They got a huge boost from Jaden Akins and if he continues to play at that level, they will be a tough out in this tournament. North Carolina had an easy win over Wagner, and is led by RJ Davis and Armando Bacot, who both play at an elite level. Davis may be one of the best point guards remaining in the tournament. The key for Michigan State is to limit open 3s and rebound the basketball. Michigan State has Tyson Walker who can bother Davis and make is night much more difficult, especially his 3pt shooting. Izzo has always had elite rebounding teams, and this is no different this year. Their ability to rotate bigs will help neutralize Bacot and keep this within a one possession game either way.

Oregon @ Creighton – Saturday 3/23 (9:40 PM EST)

You can make the case Oregon is as playing as well as just about anyone in the nation. They have won five in a row including a convincing NCAA tournament win over South Carolina on Thursday. Altman is an elite coach, especially when preparing for opponents and neutralizing their best players. With a quick turnaround I give him the edge in the coaching matchup. They may be an 11 seed, but that’s only due to the slow start they had this season. In the battle of the centers, I give the edge to Dante over Kalkbrenner as he is more mobile and has the potential to get Kalkbrenner into some foul trouble. If Oregon can extend their zone out and bother Creighton’s 3pt shooting, Oregon will have a great shot at winning outright.
